Auf bunten Abwegen

Mit dem Fahrrad besuchen wir versteckte Orte und machen sie sichtbar. Wir treffen uns im Carree am WDC Pavilion und starten auf unsere kleine Entdeckungstour. Dabei fahren wir langsam und rücksichtsvoll. Miteinander und der Blick für die Umgebung stehen im Vordergrund, länge 7 km ca. 1 Stunde.

Wir laden ein zu einem niedrigschwelligen und sozialem Sportangebot bei dem wir Darmstadt aktiv aus neuen Blickwinkeln entdecken.Mit dem Fahrrad machen wir uns auf die Suche nach Subkultur und queerem Leben in Darmstadt. Wo findet in Darmstadt Kultur statt, die von den Menschen selbst auf die Beine gestellt wird? Ohne großen kommerziellen Hintergedanken, sondern vielmehr aus Bedürfnis und Notwendigkeit die Dinge selbst in die Hand zu nehmen, da sie sonst in unserer Stadt nicht vorkommen würden. Diese Notwendigkeit der Organisation und des selbstbewussten vertreten der eigenen Belange begegnet uns auch in der queeren Szene, wir schauen uns exemplarische Orte in Darmstadt dafür an. Und um dem Namen der Tour noch vollends gerecht zu werden, werfen wir auch einen Blick auf die Graffiti-Kultur in unserer Stadt.

Mit 7 km und ca. 30 Höhenmetern richtet sich der social ride nicht vorrangig an das

Fitnesslevel oder die Ausstattung, viel mehr an Entdecker*innenlust und die gemeinsame Freude am Radfahren. Bringt dafür einen Helm mit. Falls euer Fahrrad technische Probleme hat, meldet euch und schaut bei unserer wöchentlichen Mitmachwerkstatt vorbei.

Wir fahren größenteils auf festem Untergrund, es kann jedoch auch mal zu kurzen Schotterpassagen kommen.

Auf bunten Abwegen

We’ll cycle to hidden spots and bring them to light. We’ll meet at the Carree by the WDC Pavilion and set off on our little discovery tour. We’ll cycle slowly and considerately. The focus is on being together and taking in our surroundings; the route is 7 km long and takes about 1 hour.

We invite you to join us for an accessible and social sporting activity where we actively discover Darmstadt from new perspectives. By bike, we set out in search of subculture and queer life in Darmstadt. Where in Darmstadt does culture take place that is organised by the people themselves? Not driven by major commercial motives, but rather by the need and necessity to take matters into their own hands, as these things would otherwise not happen in our city. We also encounter this need for organisation and the self-assured advocacy of one’s own interests in the queer scene; we’ll take a look at some exemplary venues in Darmstadt that exemplify this. And to do full justice to the tour’s name, we’ll also take a look at the graffiti culture in our city.

Covering 7 km with an elevation gain of around 30 metres, this social ride isn’t primarily aimed at your

fitness level or kit, but rather at a spirit of discovery and the shared joy of cycling. Please bring a helmet. If your bike has any technical issues, get in touch and pop along to our weekly hands-on workshop.

We’ll be cycling mainly on tarmac, though there may be a few short sections of gravel.
